Mikel Obi's name out of Glo-CAF Awards

CAF (Confederation of African Football) unveiled the shortlist of the five palyers for the 2012 African player of the year award with the only Nigerian on the initial ten-man list dropped. It would be recalled that John Mikel Obi, the young Nigerian who plays for Chelsea Football Club made the ten-man list for the 2012 CAF-Awards but his name was finally excluded in the released list of the  five contenders for the prestigious award.
On top of the list is the current African best player of the year, Yaya Toure of Manchester City and Cote d'Ivoire with three times winner, Didier Drogba also named. Camerounian and Barcelona midfielder, Alex Song also is on the list with the duo of Ghanaian Andre Ayew of Olympic Marseille and Senegalese Demba Ba of NewCastle United. 
Also excluded from the five-man list were Younes Belhanda of Morocco who plays for Montpellier of France, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon who plays for Saint Etienne of France, Gervais Lombe Yao Kouassi of Cote d' Ivoire who plays for Arsenal and Christopher Katongo, the Zambian captain who plays for Henan Construction of China.
